Buddhafield and the Center for Enlightenment

"To put it simply, any region or actual dwelling place for retreat, In which renunciation arise, and attention is well focused, Is said to be the equal of the sacred site of the heart of awakening."

In 2003, His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche established Buddhafield as his seat and center of Buddha activity in the United States of America. Buddhafield is a pristine sanctuary of over 40 acres in Millerton, New York, 90 minutes north of New York City. His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche has envisioned Buddhafield as a sanctuary and refuge, a place to find rest and relief from the chaotic and turbulent emotions of anger, attachment, ignorance, pride and jealousy.

While Buddhafield is a physical place existing in time and space, the essence of Buddhafield transcends limited concepts and conditions. Buddhafield is an expression of open space, where one can find unconditional freedom, the room to relax and be at ease with oneself and the world. Rinpoche describes it this way: "We are building more than a retreat center, we are building a sanctuary of complete awareness within ourselves, in the center of our hearts."

On July 21 and 22, 2012, Shyalpa Rinpoche led a meditation retreat at Buddhafield in Millerton, New York. During the weekend, His Eminence gave inspiring teachings based on themes from his new book Living Fully to about 108 people of all ages from around the world. The audio recordings of these teachings will be available soon for purchase.
